LC Portfolio Development

The Portfolio development course is an established process to allow students the ability to document and demonstrate college-level competencies that they have acquired in environments and organizations outside the traditional higher education process including work experiences. The portfolio provides evidence that the student has met established learning outcomes that are equivalent to college level courses. Knowledge and skills gained though experiential opportunities such as jobs, training, or life experiences may translate to college credit if students can document and demonstrate comprehension of learning outcomes and objectives consistent to the course outcomes. A student must be able to demonstrate at least 70% knowledge of learning outcomes of a related college course, which may include theoretical or conceptual knowledge as well as application of subject-specific principles. Upon completion of the course, the portfolio is submitted to the appropriate division for review by the faculty experts. Once reviewed, the student is notified if credit will be awarded and to what extent.
