Course Description: Section 608 of the Clean Air Act requires those that handle refrigerants to be certified to do so. This course is a review of material related to Section 608. Students in this course should be familiar with the refrigerant cycle and common HVACR practices. This course should be used in conjunction with the ESCO EPA Section 608 Preparatory Manual which is provided.

John Kok
J.R. Kok has worked in the HVAC/R field for 30 years. In 1992, he completed a two-year technical degree in Commercial HVAC/R at Pinellas Technical Education Center in Florida. He holds a HVAC contractor's license in the state of Florida and a journeyman license in Idaho. In 2021, J.R. obtained a master of science degree in education through the University of Idaho. He is a full time associate professor at LCSC and an instructor for Workforce Training's HVAC program.
