Acquire the skills to provide quick response and mid-level emergency medical and trauma care to the sick or injured in the pre-hospital setting through a combination of online, classroom, acute care and field time. This course meets Idaho and NREMT standards for obtaining an EMT license. Upon successful completion of this course, students must pass state and national written and skill exams. High school diploma or equivalent required. Basic computer skills and high-speed internet access required. Exam fees are not included in course costs. Hours: 50 classroom/lab, 80 online, 16 clinical.

Lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical service personnel. The EMT course provides training to acquire the emergency skills necessary to assess a patient's condition and manage respiratory, cardiac and trauma emergencies.  The theory portion is presented online.  In addition, you will complete hands-on skills training in the classroom and additional clinical training in the emergency room and on an ambulance.

 PRE-REQUISITES:

  • 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent (verification required)
  • Initial Education Courses through the Idaho EMS website. Directions for completing these courses are provided after students register.

BLS CPR: TBD - If you are already HeartCode BLS CPR certified, please submit a copy of your CPR card to wft@lcsc.edu for verification and we will remove you from the scheduled class. Class Holidays/Days Off: 03/30/22 Psychomotor Practice Test: 07/06/22 Psychomotor Exam: 07/09/22 FISDAP, TBD Background Checks: These are due by the first week after the class start date, but not sooner than one month prior to the class start date. See instructions on how to complete in the attached class packet. Immunizations + Photo: These items must be completed and submitted to Canvas by the 2nd week of class. See the attached class packet for more information and requirements.
