The class slated to begin on September 1 will be postponed until we can fill the instructor position. During this hybrid course you will learn all aspects of blood collection, including anatomy and physiology of the vascular system, medical ethics, legal issues, and venipuncture. You will also complete 100 hours of hands-on training at regional labs. Basic computer skills and high-speed internet access required.
Hours: 40 classroom, 45 online, 100 clinical
Upon successful completion of this program, you are eligible to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology national examination (exam and cost of exam not included in the course). Must be 18 and have your high school diploma or equivalent.
BLOOD CENTER FOUNDATION OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility Requirements: The applicant must intend to enroll in the Lewis-Clark State College Phlebotomy course and plan to work in the field of Phlebotomy. Scholarship recipients will be required to observe at a Vitalant location for one day to learn about blood banking and transfusion medicine.
Application Deadline: August 11, 2021
Awards: Will be made by August 25, 2021. Awards may be distributed in part or in full to one or more students. Students must register in the class that begins on September 1, 2021. Funds will be sent directly to LC State.
